Character creation in RADD is not too different from singleplayer New Vegas. You start in Doc Mitchell's home through the traditional start, however there are a few key changes with character generation to be aware of before you start customizing your character.
Character Naming
In RADD the server enforces you to select a first name and last name as your player name. Middle names are also accepted, however, limited to one additional name only.
Automatic Enforcement
This enforcement is not done instantly, so you may be able to bypass this temporarily, but the server will force you to change your name until the requirements are met. It is also important to note that profane or inappropriate character names are not permitted, and you will be automatically forced to change your name until the name is appropriate. Additionally, correct capitalization is required, but this is automatically corrected by the server in the background if detected.
Your name in the server will be bound to your interactions in faction chats, capture logs, website character details, and all of your general interactions - so pick wisely!
Renaming
If you later decide to change your name, you may only do this up to three times within a month using the /rename command, with your desired name following. The command costs 300 Sparks to perform, and your name change is broadcasted to other players.
Identifying Players for Moderation
Sometimes you may encounter a player whose name is not familiar, or similar to another player. You can instead look at the Discord identifier tag above their name next to their server title in order to uniquely identify the player. This is useful for reporting players, or identifying potential spies.
S.P.E.C.I.A.L and Perk Selection
When selecting your initial S.P.E.C.I.A.L. points and perks with Doc Mitchell, the specialisation is significantly different to singleplayer. You can freely play around with builds, but it's recommended to ask around the community for recommended builds - or look at existing metagame patch notes if you are aiming to PVP at a later point.
